First outfit of spring

Spring seems to have come late this year but the weather is slowly starting to pick up here in Manchester.

I decided to join my family for an afternoon drink and document my first coatless outfit of the year!

Every time spring come around, I feel like I’ve forgotten to dress in a way that doesn’t involve at least 7 layers and I realise, I really don’t have enough lightweight jackets.

One item I have finally managed to track down, are these check, tie waist trousers. I’ve wanted a pair since last year but hadn’t quite managed to find the right pair until this month, when I found two very attractively priced styles in the sale, I bought both and will most likely feature the other pair in my next outfit post.

I’m in desperate need of some t-shirts or casual tops for the new season, but I haven’t managed to get any yet so I paired the trousers with this black batwing style one from Topshop. I also added my usual chainmail jewellery to add some edge and these mirrored, marble print sunglasses from Quay Australia.

Rebecca Minkoff mini Mac bag blue velvet

I didn’t need to take much with me so I decided to go for this small Rebecca Minkoff bag. I wasn’t initially sure if it “went” with this outfit but I really enjoy contrasting textures and looking back on the pictures, I think it looks fine.

I decided to wear trainers with this outfit for comfort and a casual look.

I really enjoy the contrast of the silver tone chainmail against all the black.

I’m looking forward to more spring outing and subsequent outfits over the coming months.

Autumn has the most beautiful sunsets. The warm colours hitting the leaves contrasts the chill in the air in the most wonderful way.

The lighting makes it look quite warm but it actually wasn’t and I was very glad I decided to wear my padded leather jacket.

I have been looking for existing autumnal pieces in my wardrobe and have fallen black in love with this pleated maxi skirt I bought a couple of years ago, I love wearing it in winter because it’s easy to layer warm tights under it, without compromising the look of the outfit.

Wet Manchester weather and walking through grass always call for water-resistant footwear and Dr. Martens never disappoint.  These are not current season but they have a new textured version, which will be linked below.

I paired my skirt with this cropped grey velvet top from H&M. I love the slit details on the arms and fact that it’s quite warm for a thin top.

I finished off the outfit with some accessories. I emphasised the dark bohemian vibe of the outfit with a black feather necklace from Richard Ayres, a jade pendant and some long earrings. I also wore my usual ring assortment.

Autumn/Winter wishlist (and black Friday deals)

This post has been in the works for a while. I tried to write it last month but wasn’t feeling inspired enough by fall trends to find enough items that I liked. This week however, all the talk of holidays and sales has speared e into action and I have actually discovered that I have a bit of a thing for marble print, apparently! autumnwinter16 wishlist

  1. Marble print sunglasses by Quay @topshop £24 in the sale! These are the perfect pair of statement sunglasses to shield the winter sun from your eyes.
  2. Hourglass Surreal light palette, £69 SpaceNK  Yes, this is pricey but I loved last year’s version and I would use this all the time too.
  3. Spectrum “marbelous” 7 piece brush set, £24 in the Beautybay sale.  Beautiful affordable brushes with great reviews.
  4. Spectrum marble print bag £16.99, spectrum (I had to update the link as it has sold out on beautybay).
  5. Embellished cold shoulder jumper £46, topshop
  6. Miista Uma shoes £129 but there are various black Friday discount codes available.
  7. Swell marble print water bottle, £25 urban outfitters This appears quite pricey for the size, but as someone who as carried a plastic bottle around in my handbag since I can remember, I think I would be glad to swap it for a non cancer-causing stainless steel version.
  8. Poison moon ring by Dixi, £32 but will be discounted by up to 50% throughout black Friday weekend.

I hope you find some things you love in the sales this year!

Urban Dreamscapes

Yesterday I went fabric shopping and met my friend Laura in town for lunch. We stumbled across this garden installation (which I assume was made to advertise dreamscape gardens, cool idea) on the side of the road and decided to take some pictures.

It was interesting to have my picture taken by someone who is an artist but not a photographer, as the images we ended up with are slightly outside the norm for this type of post, but I really like them.

In the garden

Spring has finally arrived and last weekend, I was actually caught out wearing much warmer clothes than was necessary. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come and I can start bringing out some of my summer pieces that have been locked away in the wardrobe all year. dark fashion blogger with wolf doggarden 2
