Glasses

My plan to catch up on blog posts hasn’t been going so well due to having to move again and being without internet but I’m going to give it an other go.

Earlier in the year I started wearing glasses! I’ve known I needed them for a while but it still came as quite a shock. When I was younger I didn’t really like the look of them or think that I’d ever want to wear them but I actually think they’re a great accessory (as well as something I need to improve my vision).

In most cases I don’t need to wear them out but I got two pairs, just in case.

The first pair is quite simple, flattering to my face shape and goes with almost everything.

The second pair was a bit of a gamble but I wanted something more colourful with an interesting shape so I went for a modern cat eye by red or dead.

2013-04-09 22.09.142013-04-09 22.08.51And here’s what they look like on. I kept thinking I was going to take better pictures but of course that never happened.

Spring needs

I recently managed to get my studio looking pretty much the way I want it, only to find out that I have to move again soon. The only thing that makes it bearable is that I have most of the furniture and equipment I need now and the next move will probably be easier.

I have a few posts to catch up on and with my birthday coming up I thought I’d start with wishlist type boards. I’m pretty sure my homeware choices will come as quite a shock after my wardrobe picks but that’s the way I like it.

clothesI’ve tried to choose items that could be Spingish but can also be layered for warmth as there’s no signs of the cold subsiding yet.

2012 recap!

When I look back on 2012, it has mostly been a year of trying to keep everything going and further establishing my business. I’m grateful to all the amazing people who have shared parts of my journey with me and worked on my various projects.

Photoshoot highlights 2012.

Inspirational images 2012

inspiration 2012I’m excited about 2013 and hope it will be the start of bigger, better things for me and Eustratia. I’ve never really been a fan of new year’s resolutions but I’ve decided to make a list of goals I hope to achieve this year so can look back on it and see how I’ve done. I think I’m always a bit optimistic when I write lists as most of my projects require more work than I originally realise but I’d rather aim high than low so I’m going to write the full list and see how I do.

  1. Learn to drive.
  2. Launch my first latex lingerie range.
  3. Do at least 5 fashion shows.
  4. Release my first non-latex items (at least 6).
  5. Get t-shirts and tote bags printed.
  6. Design and produce a new jewellery range.
  7. Find at least 2 stockists for Eustratia.
  8. Write at least 3 blog posts a month (this doesn’t sound like a lot but with my schedule it can be hard sometimes).
  9. Post at least 5 tutorials.
  10. Find cool bloggers to send items to.
  11. Collaborate with at least 12 amazing models.
  12. Be involved in at least 5 large scale photoshoots with great themes.
  13. Get at least 2 magazine covers.
  14. Find and enjoyable form of exercise that fits in with my schedule and can be done regularly.
  15. Find and keep a studio that works for my business.
  16. Visit 2 other countries.
  17. Do a fashion show out side the UK.
  18. Dress a celebrity in my pieces
  19. Increase my social media followers to a number I am happy with. (I have a lot of profiles and this varies for each but having over 10k on the Eustratia facebook page would be a start)
  20. Do something cool for the Eustratia 2nd birthday in a couple of months!

If I can achieve all of these to the standard I have in mind I dare say it will be a successful year. I’d love to hear from others who have big plans for the year! What do you guys do to stay on track? I’m going to put up a big notice board and stick notes sketches and inspirational images on it in hope that it will help to keep me focused.

Christmas 2012

This year I was working a ridiculous amount of hours, up to Christmas eve so it was nice to be able to relax for a couple of days, I don’t believe it’s all over already.

This Christmas was a nice family affair as usual but it was the first year in a long time that we stayed at home and I had the opportunity to take pictures. I decided to make a little diary of my day.

524b8e944ee411e2ad1322000a9e28e6_7Chistmas face! I decided to do a curly updo.

15471_10151348017370365_1715759354_nI wore black and nude because I really love my new flocked leggings and I knew my dress was going to be similar colours.

525148_10151349253170365_1862595796_nShoes! This was probably my favourite present but I bought them for myself so I’m not sure if it counts.

28748_10151349261510365_1026819791_nMy second favourite present was my amazing new waste paper bin. My old bin was red and plastic and gave me a headache every time I looked at it so I was desperate to get rid of it!

61d5841c52f611e28df922000a9f1991_7I ended up wearing a sort of miss matched outfit of what I decided to wear when I got up and loads of new stuff on top of it but I thought it looked OK. I even put my antlers on for Christmas lunch.

164635_10151351699190365_130740489_nNo Christmas is complete without new accessories!

16806_10151349762980365_2010849429_nI also made a start on my new obsession, goldstone, opal and cracked quartz plugs.

Hopefully more nice and peaceful Christmases will follow in future years

Accessory moment 6.

I haven’t done one of these for ages! I knew this would happen at some point but I’m going to try and catch up by posting a few old ones as well.

What I used:

feathersno1. Rubber coin purse £6 Arcanum Accessories

2. Silicone plug about £3.50 from just about anywhere.

3. Cross plug, £6 sick plugs

Christmas list

I’m actually quite  organised this year and have done most of my Christmas shopping already! I enjoy picking out presents for people as much as I enjoy compiling lists of what I’d like myself and that’s what makes posts like this so fun.

I don’t think an adult can ever be as excited about Christmas as a child and that’s why I always make sure I ask for some fun things to bring back those memories instead of just boring stuff like money, work stuff and driving lessons (which I did actually ask for this year).

Christmas list 12

1. grey coloured contacts. £15 http://www.turtlecontacts.co.uk I thought these would be fun to use for shoots, I get bored of my eye colour sometimes.

2. Lindt stracciatella truffles. You can’t have Chrismas without chocolate! I usually list the white ones as my favourite but stracciatella sounds even better!

3. Peal trim earmuffs £12 topshop. I wear earmuffs a lot in winter because they keep your ears warmer and don’t mess up your hair as much as a hat. I thought these were funny because of the pearls.

4. Bligtone eyeshadow in purple haze. This is listed at £16 online but I’m sure it was under £10 last time I got some from boots.

5. Black facet headband £2 ebay. Simple and cheap, headbands are always useful when I’m working.

6. flocked damask leggings £20 Dorothy perkins

7. goldstone saddle plugs £5 urbanpiercingshop.co.uk I really love the colour of these but I think my bf already bought me on and he thought it looked black which is a shame :( .

8. Quartz & silver wire ring $22 bluembrownie on etsy I’ve wanted a silver ring with a big stone or crystal for ages and it’s so hard to find nice ones that don’t cost the earth.

9. skull and flowers plug £10 uk custom plugs. Not usually my sort of thing but I really fancy these for a change.

10. shattered look crystal quartz plugs £10 urbanpiercingshop.com

11. triple septum ring and iridescent plate nose stud honeycomborganics.com . Really like both of these but they were quite expensive and from an American site so I hope to find something similar from somewhere easier to order from.

12. Just realised I have 2 number 12s! studded leather shorts £48 and tie dyes velvet leggings (so comfy) £20 topshop.

13. Jeffrey Campbell Holy . £150.

14. lazer cut shoes £120 topshop

15. Deer washbag £15 randomvintage.co.uk

16. too faced nake eye palette £30 boots (or less on ebay sometimes) Really need to replace this one, it was useful.

17. Little deer iphone case £4 ebay. My current case is pretty dead so I need a new one.

18. contour palette. £15 ebay. Always wanted one of these but never got round to buying it.

19. flocked storage boxes £10 ebay. Been watching these since the summer, I think it’s time…

20. snowflake iphone case $35 society6.com I totally need to get on society6 when I have some time to sort it out!

21. Adjustable mannequin sizes 8-14. £120 ebay. This would be really useful for making clothes, shame it doesn’t currently fit anywhere at the moment.

22. Shabby chic bin. £20 ebay. Everyone thinks I’m crazy for wanting this but not having a nice bin instead of a red plastic one that stands out like a sore thumb would really make a difference in my room.

23. Unicorn purse and beauty products £36 candycandyjewellery.com Not only is the purse cute but the products are colours that I would wear!

24. Mini chest of drawers £18.95 allofmyheart.co.uk These would be perfect to sit on my shelf for some extra storage space.

25. socks £5 topshop. Socks are a classic xmas present and these looked particularly nice and comfy.

Wow, so that look longer than expected! I’m supposed to be making my Eustratia Christmas hamper samples so I better get back to work!

Writing lists is exciting even thought you know that you probably won’t get most of what’s on there but it’s always interesting to compare afterwards :) .

Accessory moment no.5

This is an other look where the hair plays an important part. I realised I hadn’t posted an accessory moment with my new extensions yet so I used slightly less accessories than usual for this look. I think it’s a good example to show that less is more sometimes and you should just go with what works for your look.

What I used:

1. Layered spike necklace £5, Primark (occasionally this store surprises me)

2. Pheasant claw earrings, Sophie Adamson

3. Deer skull necklace, Eustratia

Bird claw earring.

For those who wanted to know, my septum ring is from bodyjewellershop.com I also get asked about this hair style a lot. The hair extensions I bought were lightest blonde, 22inches. I died them with a selection of Direction colours (lavender, lilac and turquoise) that I painted on and mixed into each other. You should try and get a blonde that matches the colour your hair goes when bleached, this will help the dyed extensions match your hair colour.

I left the hair dye on the extensions a lot longer than I do on my hair. Then rinsed and dried as usual.

The waves were created using a Babyliss Wave envy hair styler. I would suggest having a look on ebay for one of these as they are often cheaper.

Accessory moment no.4

This look revolves mostly around the bun hair. It’s not a style that I wear out very often so I wanted to see if I could make it look a bit more special.

What I used:

1. leather cuff (used as hair tie) £5 -NO:WEAR camden

2. Clock part necklace -ALL SAINTS (not current season)

3. Studded cross hair clip £18 -Eustratia (www.eustratia.co.uk)

4. Spikey bracelet £18 -River Island (not current season)

5. Bird cage ring £12 -TOPSHOP

6. spike earrings £6.50 -ebay

I think putting the leather cuff around the bun really made a difference and gave it an edge.

I get asked about this one a lot. It’s a little pierced cherub creature (wings on back) was a gift a friend brought back for me from Tokyo. I made it into a long necklace because I think it brings a bit of fun to my outfits. I haven’t seen anything like it in the UK and most people react quite strangely to it.

And finally the full outfit.
